Now accepting submissions! Company of Angels produces theater that reflects and responds to the richness, diversity, and complexity that is our city. Eligible plays must be original, full-length works and a max of 8 roles, or include a breakdown of doubling. Additionally, we suggest you familiarize yourself with Company of Angels; read our mission, look at the archive, and review recent productions for a better understanding of the work we produce prior to submitting.

We are especially interested in stories that call out for the stage; plays possessing a fresh use of language or form; compelling contemporary stories that speak to our community; and plays by under-represented voices (e.g., women, writers of color, writers with disabilities, lgbtq2 writers).

Please attach the script to the email as a portable document file (.pdf) or as a Microsoft Word file (.doc). In the body of the email, please include the playwright’s full contact information and a short synopsis of the play being submitted. Furthermore, if the play has been previously workshopped and/or had a staged reading, please provide all the pertinent details of the workshop and/or reading.

SUBMISSION CRITERIA:

  • We can only accept scripts as PDF or Word documents.

  • We do not accept submissions by mail. 

  • We only accept full-length plays.

  • Playwrights should live in the Los Angeles area.

  • All submissions must contain full contact information and cast requirements. 

  • All submissions must contain Playwrights Resume.

  • All submissions must contain a synopsis of the play.

  • All submissions must contain a Character breakdown.

  • Only plays with no more than 8 characters will be accepted.

  • All submissions must contain a brief description of the play’s developmental and production history.

Company of Angels will not respond to every submission; please do not contact us to inquire about the status of your script or for feedback. If we have questions or would like to proceed with your script, we will contact you when the time is right.

We are now accepting submissions for new members! Company of Angels is the longest-running non-dues-paying non-profit membership theater company in Los Angeles. We are always looking for new members: Actors, Playwrights, Directors, Designers, Stage Managers, and more.

We hold interviews & auditions quarterly throughout the year. Submit any time to be included in the next round of interviews/auditions

PLAYWRIGHTS GROUP

Convened in the summer of 2007, Company of Angels Playwrights Group is a select invited group of diverse Angeleno playwrights. The group is for playwrights who wish to have a space to develop innovative, original, and exciting new plays. Our playwriting group gives writers space to experiment, be listened to, be challenged, and supported in equal measure. Part of what we can provide is space for writers to be with their peers, to support and push each other in turn. The meetings are not intended to be a how-to-write ‘course’. The writers we select can already write. It’s an opportunity to develop your craft and write a new play. Completed plays are eligible for our “To Read and Stage in L.A” reading series, and will be considered for a main-stage production.

Our Playwrights Group runs from October 2020-May 2021 and culminates in a public reading series.
