Over a series of workshops led by some of Los Angeles’ leading spoken word artists, inner-city youth develop their unique voice and create works of spoken word, dance and theater that incorporate themes of violence, drugs, equality, peace, freedom, unity, change, family, culture, language, social justice & love. Spoken Movement is our commitment to support, develop and produce work by Angeleno youth whose work address the fundamental issues of vulnerable, urban communities and where struggles are transformed into assets.
The Halo Project is part of Company of Angels’ community-based theater program and serves the homeless and working poor. From non-actors and burgeoning artists, The Halo Project’s ten-week project offers workshops involving monologue and scene study, theatre games, actor exercises, and improvisation. The project culminates in performances by the participants incorporating an array of original and published monologues, scene work, short plays, dance, and musical pieces.
The Molina Acting Studio is an essential 4 week intensive taught by Artistic Director, Armando Molina (director, writer, producer). Armando breaks down the class into two segments, exercises and improvisations focused on character creation plus work on monologues, audition material, and scene work. The goal of the class is to expand the actor’s range and access to emotional truth resulting in a distinctive and compelling use of the actors’ instrument
