| Armando MolinaArtistic Director | Armando Molina is a director and actor
with a background in theater development. His recent directing
credits include “Anna In The Tropics” by Nilo
Cruz at PCPA Theaterfest in Santa Maria California; “Conjunto”
by Oliver Mayer at Borderlands Theater Company in Tucson
Arizona; “Living Out” By Lisa Loomer at TheatreWorks
in Palo Alto, California, and at Mixed Blood Theatre in
Minneapolis; and “The Waiting Room” by Lisa
Loomer at Company of Angels in Los Angeles. Armando recently
received national recognition from the NEA and the Theater
Communications Group as a recipient of their Career Development
Program for Directors. Before leaving to freelance as a director, Armando was a member of the Cornerstone Theater ensemble where he acted and directed. He participated in Cornerstone residencies in Baldwin Hills, Chinatown, Boyle Heights, Watts, South Central, and with the Bus Riders Union. Armando’s community collaborative work has also included the Virginia Avenue Theater Project for Young People. Armando co-founded Latins Anonymous, the critically acclaimed Latino Comedy Group. Their first play, “Latins Anonymous,” was held over for six months at the Los Angeles Theater Center. They followed with runs at the San Diego Repertory Theater, Group Theater in Seattle, South Coast Repertory Theater, the Sacramento Theater Company, and performances in San Antonio, Houston, Amherst, San Francisco, San Jose, Portland. Their second play, “The LA LA Awards” premiered at the Japan American Theater in Los Angeles, and they also performed at the San Diego Repertory Theater, the Guadalupe Cultural Center in San Antonio, and the Odyssey Theater Ensemble in Los Angeles. These plays were published by Arte Publico Press and continue to be performed nationally. Armando got his start in the New York theater comedy scene. He was a member of the Frontline Comedy Group with whom he wrote sketches and performed at the Manhattan Punchline. He also co-founded Legal Action, the resident comedy group at the Westbank Theater on Theater Row (with artistic directors Lewis Black and Rand Forester). As an actor he worked with the acclaimed Cuban-American play write, Maria Irene Fornes at I.N.T.A.R.. Armando’s other directing credits include “Magic Tricks,” “Mass Transit” and “Esther and the Exodus,” “Dolores Dilemma,” “Freak: Saint Plays” for Cornerstone Theater Company; “Romeo and Juliet” for Cornerstone and East L.A. Classic Theater Company; The American Southwest Theater Company’s production of “Latins Anonymous;” “Ramona Roses,” at Theater of Note in Los Angeles (a one woman show about at risk youth in East Los Angeles), “Confessions of a Cha Cha Feminist” at Highways in Santa Monica, and “The Case of the Strange Step Brother” for California Youth Theater. Armando also assistant directed Doug Wager at the Mark Taper Forum and Jo Bonny at Second Stage in New York. Armando’s acting credits include starring roles at the Mark Taper Forum (Bocon!), the Bilingual Foundation of the Arts (One Hundred Times I Shouldn’t), and the South Coast Repertory Theater (Aunt Dan and Lemon). In television he has appeared in Law and Order- Criminal Intent, NYPD Blue, Seinfeld, Frasier, Norm, Family Law, King of Queens, Law and Order;CI, ER, and had a recurring role on Lizzie McGuire. Armando also co-founded The Platform, a political cabaret that explored post riot Los Angeles as a community in crisis. The Platform performed at the Los Angeles Theater Center, Highways Performance Space, UCLA, and Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibits (LACE). |
| Dolores ChavezExecutive Producing Director | Dolores has worked in the arts for 20 years. She spent the last fifteen years at the Mark Taper Forum/Center Theater Group where she was the Producer of P.L.A.Y/Performing for Los Angeles Youth. She produced theatre for young audiences and toured her plays throughout Los Angeles, also performing at the Kirk Douglas Theatre, the Mark Taper Forum, the Kennedy Center and in Scotland. While at Center Theater Group she built extensive educational and community programs that enhanced and extended the theater productions beyond the stage. Dolores also worked with Peter Sellars and the L.A Festival as the Producer of the Memory Project, working with artists in community residencies. She has been acknowledged for her work in the community by local government and neighborhood leaders. She has served as a consultant with the Los Angeles County Arts Commission and is currently an NEA consultant. She currently serves on the national board of ASSITEJ, an international theater organization and is a community advisor for Native Voices at the Autry Center of Western Heritage. |
| Kila KituProducing Director of Wings Projects | Tempered
in some of the nation's most prestigious training grounds,
Kila brings to Company of Angels many years of theatrical
experience, both onstage and off. Training since the age
of ten, (University of Maryland and The Shakespeare Theater
were two of her stomping grounds), Kila joined the award-winning
Washington Shakespeare Company where she began her professional
career as actor, director and instructor. Kila was a founding
member of WSC's outreach program, Bard on Wheels, and
eventually became the program's director. Kila also worked
with the outreach department of the Smithsonian's National
Portrait Gallery, re-writing the Intro to African-American
Literature program while there.
Kila
continued working in the D.C. theater community until
leaving D.C. for a one year tour with the Shenandoah
Shakespeare Express. Since arriving in L.A., Kila has
appeared on screen and on stage, including E.R., The
Shield and Frasier and the ShakespeareLA production
of Twelfth Night. In March 2006, Kila appeared as Electra
in the critically successful production of Colored Contradictions
at Company of Angels and joined the company thereafter,
going on to produce and direct the Wings Project Productions
of The Two Gentlemen of Verona and Playing Juliet/Casting Othello. Kila is also a member
of Towne Street Theater and 4 Letter Entertainment. |
| Tina SanchezAssociate Artistic Director |
Tina Sanchez has worked professionally in theatre for the past 14 years. As an actor, she has received accolades for her performances in many genres of theatre from musical theater to Shakespeare. A member of AEA, SAG and AFTRA, she has worked at renowned theatres across the country including Chicago's Court Theatre, San Francisco's Word for Word Theatre Company, the La Jolla Playhouse, and L.A.'s own Center Theatre Group. Most recently she has had the pleasure of serving as assistant director to Michael John Garcés at Actors Theatre of Louisvilles Humana Festival. Tina has a B.F.A. from Wright State University's Professional Actor Training Program and has received a Backstage West Award for Best Ensemble for her performance in The Halfway Diner at the Magic Theatre in San Francisco. |

Thomas is originally from Chicago where he played and trained in Chicagos famed Improv scene, and also as a member of Chicagos influential avant-garde troupe Sliced Bread Productions, a theater company inspired by the absurd stylings of Vaudeville and Commedia DellArte. Thomas graduated from the University of Colorado with a B.A. in Film, where he had the privilege of studying under the legendary Stan Brakhage.
A few of Thomas favorite roles have been in The Underpants, Le Bourgeois Avant-Garde, Much Ado About Nothing, and The Two Gentlemen Of Verona. If you perchance stop by the theater you may be lucky to catch a glimpse of Thomas alter-ego the absurdly suave Barry Bueno. |
| Catalina Maynard Co-Director of Education | Catalina has worked with a variety of theatre companies which include; the Mark Taper Forum, Company of Angels, East LA Classic Theatre, Los Angeles; Theatre Works of Palo Alto; Mix Blood Theatre, The Children's Theatre Company Minneapolis; PCPA-Pacific Coast Performing Arts Theatre, San Diego Repertory Theatre, Cassius Carter/Old Globe Theatre, Teatro Campesino, South Coast Rep, Borderlands Theatre Co., Arizona Theatre Company, and the Liam Harney International Touring Company; CelticFusion, to name a few.
For more than fifteen years, Catalina has worked as an artist/instructor for various arts organizations, in-school artist in residency programs such as College for Kid's at Southwestern College, The MTD (director of theatre programs) after-school arts for the San Ysidro School District, the National Conference Diversity Works; which focused on ensemble work with high school and college students, The Old Globe's Playguides In-School Program, The California Young Playwrights Project, The Academy of Performing Arts (managing director), and the Harney Academy in Boston. |
